There are primarily two options of camel fillings, down and hair. Camels generally have two coats, the warm inner one of down and a rough outer one of hair both of which a camel will shed in clumps creating roughly 10kg of fibre annually. These fibres are gathered and processed and used for a multitude of purposes of which bedding is just one. Most JY Textiles camel quilts are made using camel down which is an incredibly soft fibre with a structure similar to cashmere that offers high moisture absorbency and heat support. Due to its ability to absorb moisture it is ideally suited to people wanting a dry sleep environment such as those suffering from rheumatism and like wool it has the natural ability manage heat making it an ideal fibre for both winter and summer use.
