Like cotton wool has been a primary source of fibre for many years with the first evidence being found over 8000 years ago in Iran. Unlike cotton however wool fibres enjoy a certain amount of crimp that enables them to trap air when used as an insulator and therefore can offer warmth along with other natural features. As wool is a natural conductor of heat it has the ability to store warmth and pass this back when required which is why it is one of nature’s best phase change materials and does naturally what many have started to develop synthetically. At JY Textiles we offer a range of wool quilts with the majority using Australian Superwash wool which is specially treated to allow a greater durability, longevity and can be washed and tumble dried making it a very practical filling. As with all natural fillings wool is a something we can get without doing any damage to the worlds resources, it grows on the back of a sheep and is removed without damage to the animal unlike many Duck & Goose fillings.
